About Our Chapter

In 2011, our camp director was gripped by the story of a local foster child who had been moved from home to home without a consistent loving adult presence in his life. He had never had a birthday party, owned very little, and had experienced a lifetime of neglect and abuse in his eight years of living. Moved with compassion, she knew something had to be done. In her search for for an answer, she discovered that there were hundreds of children in our community with similar stories. It was shortly afterward that a friend told her about For the Children and their Royal Family KIDS Camp program. She knew immediately that she needed to bring the program to our community. Working with her church, she raised the money, recruited volunteers, and trained for our first camp. It was a step of faith and a labor of love. Now, preparing for our 9th camp, we are reaching foster children and making an impact in our community.
